Lovin' the ETrade ads!

The tivo/dvr technology has elimated the need to sit through stupid commercials. Whoever created the ads for E*Trade, though, is genius! Love the talking baby.

Sharing is Caring

Ever been at a remote location and needed a certain file to complete your existence? Ok I'm obviously exaggerating a bit, but you get the point. There's plenty of file sharing shareware out there, however, Dropbox seems to be the most useful I've come across. Good on a PC, MAC or Linux Dropbox lets you have up to 2 Gigs of free space on a cloud server at anytime (You can pay a small monthly fee for more space). Let's say you have desktop PCs at home and in the office. Instead of burning a CD or using a flashdrive, simply open the DROPBOX folder on your desktop, drag the file over and you're all set.

Dropbox also has a web browser application which allows you to have access to any of your files on any computer at any time.

And the party doesn't stop there my friends. You can add "SHARED" folders with your friends across the country. So instead of ZIPPING 100 pics from your last camping trip and sending them through gmail, simply drag it over to your SHARED folder and anyone who has access can pull them down to their computer with ease.

Bottom-line, it's free, easy to use and puts a smile on your face. Check it out for yourself.

Old Spicing It Up

The Super Bowl seems to always set the tone for how advertising will continue throughout the year. Unlike the game which was pretty entertaining, the commercials weren't exactly top notch. They changed the E-Trade baby which left everyone confused. Dorito's got pretty violent with the kid slap, samurai ninja guy, dog shock collar and funeral casket spots. Bud light had a few decent spots but overall it was a lack luster year.

I was surprised to see this Old Spice "Man" spot air the day after the big game. In my opinion it supersedes anything that had a 3 million dollar tag the night before. Old Spice has "older man/gentlemen" connotations attached to it, especially their cologne and after shave products. This funny and fresh take on Old Spice puts them in a whole new light. You have to appreciate the product description as well "We're not saying this body wash will make your man smell into a romantic millionaire jet fighter pilot, but we are insinuating it."

It appears they've done a complete redesign to their website and deodorant/body wash products as well. Very slick. Bravo Old Spice. Bravo.

Disney's Version of the Bellagio Fountain

Disney's latest attraction to open at California Adventure is the World of Color fountain show, opening in March 2010.

Similar to the Fantasmic Show at Disneyland, this show features a new medium to display graphics and animation....a super-powered water fountain. The fountain is similar to the famous one at the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas, where it can be set to dance to music and shoots hundreds of feet into the air. Disney takes it to the next step and projects colors through the different jets of water to help "draw" the characters and animation that is projected on the sheets of water. Leave it to Disney to make a visually stunning show that turns something that is seemingly 2-D into something that is 3-D and tangible.

We have to wait until March to watch what will surely be an amazing show. I personally can't wait to see this new medium in action. Watch the video below to see exactly how the show will work.

Package Design at its Best

Countless times I've been at In and Out and the server asks "Would you like some ketchup?" Actually yes I would love some ketchup to accompany my delicious fries, but what's the point? I'm going to need 30 packets due to the disappointing serving size. And by the time I'm finished with my meal, I have to take a shower and bring my clothes to the dry cleaners because of the mess they leave.

I'm a sucker for good package design. Even if it's long over due, the new Heinz ketchup packets are really something. Shaped like little ketchup bottles, you can either tear off the top to put some on your burger or peel away to dip your fries. I know, it's crazy! On top of that insane functionality, the new design also holds three times as much ketchup. I knew 2010 would be a better year then last...albeit my expectations may have been a little low.
